ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Matt Dessner
Matt Dessner began his career in front of the camera, appearing in television commercials, shows, and films throughout the 1980s and ’90s. He later transitioned behind the lens, directing and editing test commercials for top global advertising agencies and shaping campaigns for brands such as Lucky Charms, Listerine, Tyson, Cheerios, Tylenol, Jeep, Samsung, Porsche, and GMC.
Today, Matt’s creative focus is on photography. His work spans concert venues, runway fashion, behind-the-scenes (BTS) shoots, and live music events, where he captures raw energy, emotion, and spontaneity. His images create a vivid, immersive experience grounded in documentary storytelling. Recent subjects include New York and LA Fashion Week, as well as bands like The National, Fishbone and The Interrupters.
In addition to his music and fashion work, Matt explores visual storytelling through street photography—blending the immediacy of modern life with nostalgic textures. His photographs offer a compelling juxtaposition of the classic and contemporary, freezing everyday moments that feel both current and timeless. Matts work was recently featured at the Los Angeles Artist Association Gallery.
A native New Yorker, he now resides in Los Angeles, California.
